SAVE ON ENERGY COSTS
Why upgrade your attic insulation?
-
Cut heating & cooling costs: Sealing attic air leaks and adding insulation saves the average home about 15% on heating & cooling (≈11% on total energy)—often more in older, drafty houses common in Atlantic Canada.
-
Even room temperatures: Fewer drafts and cold spots; bedrooms under the attic feel notably more comfortable.
-
Help stop ice dams: Proper air-sealing + the right insulation level keeps the roof deck colder so snow doesn’t melt and refreeze at the eaves.
-
Quieter home: Dense blown fibers also dampen outside noise (wind, rain, traffic).
-
Fast, clean install: We blow insulation through a hose from outside—minimal disruption.

What level R-Value
Should I Have?
For cold-climate zones like NB, NS & PEI, leading building-science and ENERGY STAR guidance targets R-49 to R-60 in the attic; many experts simply say “go to R-60.”
At Artisan, we always protect soffit vents with baffles, insulate and weather-strip the attic hatch, and install rulers/depth markers so post-work inspections are easy.

INSULATION FAQs
How much will I save?
Every home is different, but ENERGY STAR’s national data shows ~15% heating/cooling savings from attic/basement/crawl air-sealing + insulation upgrades; many Atlantic homes do better due to our heating-dominant climate.
Do I need ventilation too?
Yes. Insulation + air-sealing work together with intake (soffit) and exhaust (ridge/gable) ventilation to control heat and moisture and help prevent ice dams. We verify airflow as part of the job.
Is cellulose safe?
Cellulose is treated with borate fire retardants and manufactured to recognized safety standards (ASTM C739 / CAN-ULC-S703). We follow manufacturer specs and local codes.
